New Executive Officer
It is with great pleasure we announce the appointment of our new Executive Officer. Rod Auton. As you are all aware Rod has some very big shoes to fill after 17 years of outstanding contribution by Ian Grooby.
He has therefore hit the ground running today and is rapidly coming up to speed. Please join us in giving him a BIG WELCOME to the team and as much support as you can while he finds his feet.
Rod comes to us with excellent experience and is keen to make a difference. He has the full support of council and we are all keen to have him on board.
Rod Auton has been married for 35 years, has a son and daughter both married with children of their own. He has over 40 years in the transport and logistics sector, twenty of those years in the New Zealand Army as an operational logistician and five years as the CEO of the NZ Trucking Association. Other roles included Manager of Port Operations for Jeffs Vehicle Deliveries, Freight Hub Manager for Pacifica Express and Port Manager for Pacifica Shipping.
He has a Masters in Professional Studies(Transport & Logistics) and spent the last two and a half years in the Middle East tutoring Bachelor of International Logistics Management students for twelve months and the last 18 months as a Head of School General Studies. He has returned to New Zealand to spend more time with his grandchildren. His interests are boxing, rugby, rugby league, reading and cooking.
