Celebrating Excellence 

The Crane Association of New Zealand’s annual awards, are designed to recognise excellence in our industry.  The objective to lift the standard is at the forefront of the awards, which celebrate those striving to improve their own practices and those of the industry.  This year the awards categories are:
 


- Booth of the Year
- Trainee of the Year
- Trainer of the Year
- People's Choice
- Lift of the Year - 10 cranes and under
- Lift of the Year - 11 cranes and over
- Project of the Year 

We encourage anyone to nominate themselves or others for the awards, which will be judged by a panel appointed by the CANZ council.  We welcome any awards queries through to [email protected].

Project of the Year Award

To recognise excellence and innovation in the crane industry in New Zealand. The Project of the Year is open to all members of the Association. 

This award has been running since 1996 and is a highly contested category. 

This category celebrates collaboration and planning as part of the project aspect and innovation and technical difficulty are key factors during judging.
Lift of the Year Award (two categories)
​
​To recognise excellence and innovation in the crane industry in New Zealand. This year the award has been split into two categories for the first time. This is to provide an avenue for members will a small number of cranes to enter their work and be recognised and celebrated.

The category has been split using the number of cranes owned by a company, as the metric. The following awards now feature in this category:


  • Lift of the Year - 10 cranes and under
  • Lift of the Year - 11 cranes and over

Crane Trainer of the Year Award

Do you know a trainer who shows outstanding commitment and support to crane trainees? Nominate them now to give them the recognition and prestige they deserve.

A good trainee stands out because they are open to learn, reliable and have a great attitude. Know someone who was just made for the job and is excelling in their training? Nominate them today.

People's Choice Award

The People's choice award is decided at the 2024 Crane Conference and is a voted on by delegates attending. Delegates will be able to vote on their favourite project from the finalists in the Project or Lift of the year award category.

Delegates can vote during the conference using the app.
Best Booth Award

The Best Booth Award is awarded to the exhibitor who goes the extra mile! Delegates can vote for who they think has done the best job, considering the set up, service, giveaways, fun and general wow factor.

Iconic Photo Competition

We're on the hunt for the most iconic photo that captures the true spirit of the New Zealand crane industry — whether it’s a person, project, lift, location, or crane that defines who we are.

What We're Looking For:
An image that showcases the essence of our industry — strength, skill, pride, and history — in one unforgettable shot.

The winner will receive:
  • A $250 Prezzy Card
  • Iconic Photo Award
  • Cover spot in the 2026 CANZ Calendar 
  • 3 x free copies of the Calendar 

How It Works
  • Submit your photo by: 10 June 2025
  • 12 finalists will be chosen and displayed at the 2025 Conference
  • Members will vote at the conference to choose the winner
  • The winner will be announced at the Gala Awards Dinner on 18th July 2025
  • All 12 finalists will be featured in a one-off 2026 CANZ Calendar

  • You must have permission to use and enter the photo, particularly if there is a person featured
